HEALTH CLASS NEWS

Health class is a basic study of the body, personal safety, first aid, diseases, drug and alcohol abuse, and relationships as outlined in the
"Health in Christian Perspective" (Book).
Nutrition is also a part of the health curriculum. We will learn about the food pyramid, portion control, empty calories in foods we eat, obesity, and food additives. This study will be incorporated into the Health in Chrisitan Perspective study.

Health Class is also about learning to make good CHOICES. This will be the theme throughout the school year.

From time to time throughout the course of this year, we will be discussing articles in the CHOICES Scholastic Magazine. These topics can include substance abuse (alcohol, drugs, cigarettes) eating disorders, relationships and peer pressure, teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, etc. Please keep in mind that this will all be addressed in Christian perspective.

HIGH SCHOOL ART CLASS:

The High School Art Class is designed as a well-rounded course with a focus on artist appreciation, including style and movement, and art history.

In connection with Artist Appreciation, students will study the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design and build upon these throughout the school year. Tests and quizzes are given in this class and will require students to spend some time studying. Students will work with various mediums, including, but not limited to, pencils, pastels, markers, watercolors, acrylics, pen and ink, clay, metal tooling, and paper mache.

MIDDLE SCHOOL ART CLASSES:

Middle School art class is an art experience in transition and preparation. Students will continue to build upon what they learned in elementary art yet they will be encouraged to stretch their skills in preparation for high school level art expectations.

Various mediums will be used, new techniques will be introduced, some artist appreciation will be incorporated, as the overall goal is to prepare students for higher level art classes.

Tests are not given in middle school art class, however , students may be assigned light homework from time to time or pop quizzes may be given as further assessment of techniques learned.
